Project Name: Large-Scale Hematite Separation Project in India

Location: India

Mineral: Hematite

Main Equipment: SLon-5000 VPHGMS

Processing Technology: Pre-tailings Removal – Stage Grinding – Multi-Stage Concentration

Against the backdrop of global mineral resource depletion, the beneficiation of low-grade iron ore has become a major challenge for the industry. A large hematite mine in India has a TFe grade of only 32.61% and complex dispersal patterns, making efficient development difficult with conventional beneficiation process, resulting in low resource utilization efficiency. There is an urgent need for suitable high-end beneficiation equipment to overcome this predicament. To achieve efficient beneficiation of low-grade hematite, this project introduced the domestically developed SLon-5000 VPHGMS, employing a “pre-tailings removal – staged grinding – multi-stage beneficiation” process flow for industrial application. The process flow diagram is shown in Figure 1.

This process fully leverages the technological advantages of the SLon-5000 VPHGMS. Its innovative split-frame electromagnetic system structure, combined with core technologies such as precise magnetic circuit design, enables an adjustable background magnetic field of 0-1.8T, balancing high recovery rate and anti-clogging performance. It is suitable for the separation needs of complex and difficult-to-process ores, and the comprehensive power consumption per ton of ore is only 0.27kW/t, demonstrating outstanding energy-saving effect.

Application results show that: during the coarse grinding stage, the SLon VPHGMS can pre-select and discard 45.44% of low-grade tailings at low cost, increasing the grade of the rough concentrate to 51.38% and the iron recovery rate to 85.97%. After subsequent grinding, the SLon-5000 VPHGMS multi-stage beneficiation process finally produces a high-quality iron concentrate with a TFe grade of 67.21% and a total recovery rate of 56.45%.

This project achieves efficient development and utilization of low-grade hematite annually, not only verifying the strong adaptability of the SLon-5000 VPGHMS to complex and difficult-to-process hematite, but also bringing significant economic benefits to the project. The equipment secured a large order from the local government for 42 units, totaling 350 million RMB. This project is a benchmark case of SLon series magnetic separators going global, fully demonstrating the international competitiveness of China’s high-end mineral processing equipment, providing a replicable technical solution for the efficient development of low-grade iron ore resources worldwide, and propelling mining cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative to a new level.
