Factors Affecting the SLon WHIMS
Product Description:

The SLon SLon WHIMS is a mainstream high-efficiency magnetic separation equipment in the mining industry. It relies on the synergistic effect of magnetic force, pulsating fluid force, and gravity to complete mineral separation. With advantages such as wide particle size separation, non-clogging magnetic media, and high recovery rate, it is widely used in various magnetic mineral purification and non-metallic mineral iron removal scenarios. Its separation effect is jointly affected by four main categories of factors: structural parameters, operating parameters, feed properties, and production management. These factors interact and exhibit significant non-linear characteristics, requiring comprehensive parameter optimization during production to ensure separation quality.

  1. Structural Parameters. The outer diameter of the rotating ring is positively correlated with the equipment’s processing capacity. Equipment models cover a full range from 500mm to 5000mm, with processing capacities ranging from 0.03 to 950t/h. Larger models can also reduce unit production costs. The shape, size, and magnetic media filling rate of the media box determine the magnetic field distribution. A near-circular box and proper control of the filling rate can avoid magnetic field dead zones and improve the collection effect of minerals of different particle sizes.
  2. Operating Parameters. Operating parameters directly control the sorting state: the pulse stroke should be controlled between 8 and 16 mm, and the pulse frequency should be maintained at 200 to 250 times/min; the background magnetic induction intensity needs to be adjusted within a reasonable range to prevent insufficient magnetic field or magnetic media saturation; the optimal rotating speed is 2.5 to 3.5 r/min, balancing throughput and adsorption effect.
  3. Feed Properties. The recommended feed concentration for most minerals is 20% to 40%. Abnormal concentrations will cause a decrease in processing capacity or magnetic media blockage; the feed particle size should ideally be -0.074 mm, accounting for 60% to 80%. Excessively fine particles will interfere with sorting and reduce recovery rate.
  4. Daily Production Management. The liquid level in the sorting tank needs to be maintained at 70%~90% of the design level to balance concentrate grade and recovery rate. Simultaneously, the magnetic media should be cleaned and replaced regularly according to mineral characteristics, and impurities should be removed promptly to ensure stable magnetic field performance.

In summary, only by comprehensively adjusting various parameters in conjunction with on-site operating conditions can the equipment performance be fully utilized to achieve efficient and green mineral processing.
