SLon Magnetic Separator Limited is the inventor and promoter of Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator(WHIMS). In the past 30 years, the technical team led by Dr. XiongDahe has always taken the development of magnetoelectricity mineral processing technology as its own responsibility, walking in the forefront of the industry. SLon magnetic separation technology has continued to develop, and great progress has been made in both the research and application of new technology in recent years.

      Xingmao Power Equipment Installation Co., Ltd. located in Panzhihua, which is affiliated to Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group, is mainly engaged in the recycle of tailings of Midi Titanium Concentration Plant with an annual processing capacity of 7 million tons and a total tailings TiO2 grade of about 6.5%. From 2011 to 2020, Xingmao introduced 3 SLon-4000 WHIMS for strong magnetism roughing. Since there was only one stage of strong magnetism in the titanium separation process before, the TiO2 grade for flotation was low, leading to a large consumption of flotation reagent. Based on this, our technicists suggested adding one stage of strong magnetism for cleaning to the original process. 

      Xingmao’s new separation process had achieved good economic and social benefits upon its operation. However, the output of titanium concentrates hadn’t reached the target predicted of 280,000 tons/year in the feasibility report. It was found that the average recovery rate of titanium separation operation was only 69.98% by the two-stage Φ4000 WHIMS, which was lower than 84% experimental data. In order to improve the recovery rate of titanium in the two-stage strong magnetism, Xingmao purchased a SLon-2500TP WHIMS which was newly developed by SLon, and carried out comparative tests with Φ4000 WHIMS on site. After more than 7 months,  SLon-2500TP WHIMS obtained the excellent beneficiation index. The recovery rate of TiO2 is respectively 15% and 26.82 higher than SLon-4000 WHIMS and the industrial average index of titanium beneficiation. The application of SLon-2500TP  has laid a scientific foundation for Xingmao to reach the standard yield of titanium concentrate.

      SLon-2500TP WHIMS shows a highly efficient performance in titanium separation. It has recovered more than 200,000 tons of qualified titanium concentrates from the total tailings of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd every year. The increased profits and taxes have reached several hundred millions, which has created significant economic and social benefits for Xingmao. At the same time, the magnetic separation equipment can also be promoted and applied in similar iron and titanium separation process in other factories, which makes a positive contribution to improving the technical level of magnetic separation equipment in China.
